RITEC was formed in 1986 by Gary Petersen and Bruce Chick. Their objective was to develop a line of sophisticated instrumentation under computer control which could be used by workers in the rapidly expanding field of ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of materials. Combined, the two have in excess of 90 years of experience in the field of ultrasonics. RITEC's basic philosophy is to work in conjunction with the customer to provide instrumentation that is at the forefront of technology. The customer is a vital component of the product definition process. By working closely with the users, RITEC is able to provide systems customized to meet the needs of each. RITEC has participated with NIST, Matec Applied Sciences, University of Osaka, Johns Hopkins University, EMAT Ultrasonics, NASA and others to improve instrumentation and develop techniques. These efforts have resulted in a number of journal publications in which RITEC personnel were either authors or acknowledged in the articles as contributors. Two of these papers have won national awards.

Operational for over 50 years, Johnson Gage offers a varied product line, which includes applications, internal inspection system, external inspection system, design a guage, ThreadSpecs 2.0 and runout gage. Located in Bloomfield, Conn., the company offers special gaging, calibration and inspection services. Additionally, the company provides technical education and gaging systems to final users, assembly plants, primes, original equipment manufacturers, suppliers and vendors around the world. It caters to the needs of aerospace, construction and mining, medical, valves and fittings, oil industry, nuclear and thread fastener industries among others. From the very beginning, Zero Check recognized the need for an economical unilateral plug. The manufacture of Class Z Go and No Go wire-type gages was the answer. Later Class Y, X and XX quality gages were added for off the shelf service to satisfy customers' immediate needs. It was the economical unilateral plug that thrust Zero Check forward. As the business grew, investments in steel, labor and heat-treating costs created a shelf-stock supply of hardened and cold-stabilized steel blanks for Ring gages, Trilock gages and extra long wire-type gages. This made for faster deliveries, which became a major factor in the continuing growth of the company and product line. Zero Check has been a family-owned operation that is now in its third generation. Zero Check was incorporated in 1962 with Ross Upton as president. Jim Upton, the second generation of Uptons, assumed management of the company in 1979. His sons, Jay and Nate, now work the company, following the path established by their grandfather and father. With the move to a newer and more modern facility in 1995, and a newer generation poised to manage the firm, Zero Check looks forward to continued growth in supplying past, present and future customers with precision gages for years to come.
