Howard Early Childhood Center
Howard Early Childhood Center operates under the Alamo Heights Independent School District. Located in San Antonio, Howard enrolls more than 400 students annually, and provides educational and cocurricular programs for children preschool, prekindergarten and kindergarten. The school also provides special programs for children with developmental disabilities. It offers various activities and services, such as after school care, day care, breakfast and lunch, transportation and online information about teachers schedules and classroom events. Additionally, Howard provides instructional assistants, gifted and talented programs, title I literacy and oral language programs, English for speakers of other languages, support liaison, bilingual classes, speech, language, physical and occupational therapies, registered nurses. The school utilizes Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, various instructional resources, reading and oral language development, handwriting sessions, phonics, weekly assessments, comprehension, decoding, problem-solving, word attack skills and context clues.
